Our church spotlight shines on Brother Eric Antonio Lorick, Elder. Our Brother and his beautiful wife of over 35 years, Sister Andrea, have a son Joseph, daughter Erica and four wonderful grandchildren. Brother Lorick credits his sister Pam King with guiding him to the Church of the bible, and through him many of his family members have been taught and baptized. He was added to the Metropolitan Church of Christ in May of 1991. He was among a core group of brothers and sisters who in 1995 became our church of Christ in East Baltimore. His work’s in the Lords service includes; past Deacon, bible class teacher for adults and young men, personal bible study teacher, restoration and recovery workshop facilitator, congregational finance coordinator, NBBIC Instructor, building ministry leader, song leader, care group coordinator and benevolence ministry leader. Currently Brother Lorick is studying for his ACC certification in Christian Counseling at the Agape Counseling Training Center. Looking at his background it is easy to see just how our Brother in Christ has grown and continues to give back to our Lord and the Lord’s people. The Church recognized his good works when he was installed as an Elder in October 2006. This moving experience was shared with his loving family and remains a highlight of his walk with God. This handsome and sincere gentleman always has a twinkle in his eye and a smile for everyone. His open and caring attitude makes him well suited for his life’s work in the Church. Of these benevolence and counseling are the most rewarding. He has a deep heartfelt love and caring for his brothers and sisters and feels his endeavors within the church are the reason God saved him from his past life in the world. His strong Christian convictions, devotion and sense of duty to the Lord have made him a valuable asset to the Church. Struggle in his past have given him a true insight for his work of passing on the word of God to everyone. Brother Lorick’s strong Christian core is strength is not always visible. His bright cheerful manner, energetic teaching style and love of singing can belie the true inner convictions and passion of our Brother for his faith. As he continues his Christian walk, we can be sure our Brother will give only his best to serve the Lord and our congregation. There are two leaders in the Bible that our Brother identifies with. From the Old Testament comes Joseph. God’s providential care and protection saved him for a Godly purpose. Brother Lorick feels he was saved for a specific purpose and that this second chance was one he did not want to waste. From the New Testament come Paul with his zeal for what he believed was right, but was wrong. Again our Brother sees himself, knocked down, taught the truth, seeing the light and becoming good soil for God to use. Among his favorite Bible verses is Romans chapter 7:14-20.
